The Mental Side of Acne.
Something that isn’t talked about enough is the mental side of acne. It is something that can take a toll on your confidence overtime. It can be so hard from clear skin to having breakouts on your skin. I want you to know you are not alone, I hear and see you.
I know what you’re going through because I myself have been there. I’ve had clear skin, breakouts to finally having it managed. Now my skin is going through it all again. It’s rough mentally and physically. I try to hide my skin and cover it up, but I’ve realized acne is beautiful. Confidence does not come from clearing your skin. It is within and how you see yourself, because real skin has texture. Real skin has pores, bumps, and blemishes. Don’t let society tell you otherwise. Be kind to yourself, give yourself grace, and remember you were born to be real, not perfect. Because in reality the current state of your skin doesn’t determine your worth or beauty.
Here are some of the best practices I’ve been doing to help me manage my acne and mental health as I go through my clear skin journey. These have helped me and I hope they’ll be helpful for you too.
My advice if you are struggling with acne is to:
- Go see an acne expert
- Look in the mirror and say positive affirmations
- Text your acne expert and they will hype you up
- Don't pick, instead ice your face
- Go for a walk and clear your head
- Lastly remember who you are and you are loved with or without acne
